Job Details: Maine Medical Center is the state’s largest medical center, licensed for 637 beds and employing more than 8,000 people. The Emergency Department at Maine Medical Center is the busiest in Maine with an annual patient volume over 70,000. It is the state’s only Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. The ED is a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the needs of a high-volume, tertiary-care patient population from Maine and New Hampshire. The emergencypharmacist at Maine Medical Center is part of a dynamic team and has an integral role inpatient care. Managing medications for critically ill patients,responding to hospital emergency activations (trauma, cardiac arrest, code stroke), and reviewing orders for patients in the Emergency Department puts thepharmacist on the cutting-edge ofpatient care. This position will bescheduled on overnights – 7 on and 7 off working 10 or 12 hour shifts. We currently have two 3rd shift-overnight positions available.

  • Position Summary

Permanently assigned to off shift nights – 3RD Shift and may include working one or both nights on weekends. Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager, Operations, or their designee, the Clinical Pharmacist reviews drug therapy, formulates recommendations based on current literature and established standards of practice, directly supervises supportive personnel serves as a resource for drug information; participates and directly supervises the preparation and distribution of medications, and serves as a member of the healthcare team with the prescriber and direct caregiver. PGY-1 residency preferred.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Graduate of an ACCP accredited school/college of pharmacy is required.
  • Eligible or currently licensed in the State of Maine.
  • Work experience as a patient carepharmacist involved in patient monitoring and drug therapy review is preferred.
  • Experience in an organized healthcare setting such as a hospital or home infusion pharmacy is preferred.
  • Analytical skills necessary to identify and resolve problems related to drug therapy.
  • Experience in the monitoring and consultation on drug therapy in patients of all age groups.
