The ClinicalNurse Specialist (CNS) is an advanced practicenurse who functions in the role of expert clinician, educator, leader, consultant and researcher. In collaboration with the healthcare team, the CNS monitors the clinical care of patients and provides clinicalsupport to improvepatient care and outcomes. With in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinicalexperience in a nursing specialty, the CNS sphere of influence includes the care of the patient/family, practice of nursing and providing solutions for complex systems andprocesses. The CNS serves as a role model, patient advocate, charge agent, and leader to enhancepatient care.This position practices within the scope of the California Nursing Practice Act and in accordance with Valley Children's policies.
This position requires a Master's Degree in Nursing with expertise in clinical nursing specialty as well as a valid CA RN license and CNS license. NCC and BLS required. NRP is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer into position. Minimum three (3) years clinical area with at least one (1) year NICU equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU. Minimum five (5) years increasingly responsibleexperience which demonstrates proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job.
