Description/Qualifications

Your Role With Us:

The Medical Surgical unit is a 38 bed medical unit which specializes in a Care in Place model for medical surgical and simple surgical patients. The Nurses on the Medical Surgical Unit care for both intermediate and medical surgical patients who require 24/7 cardiac monitoring.

As part of a highly skilled professional team you will gain the opportunity to learn skills in a unique nursing specialty while providing patient centered care with a focus on patient safety.

Core Functions:

• Perform an accurate, ongoing, pertinent assessment for each assigned patient that are age appropriate. Report/consult pertinent data to other health team members and implements appropriate action.
• Assesses historical data pertinent to medical, social, cultural and educational factors and prior rehabilitation efforts.
• Intervene appropriately in emergency situations.
• Consistently document the assessment, planning, interventions and patient responses in a way that accurately reflects the patient’s care and progress.

Background/Expertise:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science degree or non-nursing Bachelor’s Degree with MSN for Salem Health applicants.
• Current and unrestricted Oregon license.
• Minimum of one (1) year of acute care experience required.
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association required.
