Develops cost effective, evidence based clinical pharmacy programming at Baton Rouge General Medical Center.
Serves as an active member of the pharmacy management team providing leadership for clinical team members, clinical programs, , cost containment programs, and improved pharmacoeconomic outcomes. Develops evidenced based protocols, order sets, policies and procedures based on current literature and guideline recommended therapy.
The Clinical Pharmacy Manager will work closely with medical staff, nursing staff as well as other ancillary departments to improve patient care. Develops education for pharmacy, medical and nursing staff as well as patients.
The Clinical Pharmacy Manager will also have oversight of Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T). Duties for P&T include, but are not limited to: transcription of minutes, non-formulary processes, formulary management, developing or assigning monograph reviews, development of medication use evaluations (MUE).
Oversight of clinical programs such as Antimicrobial Stewardship, pharmacist’s intervention documentation, smart IV pump software builds. Communicates effectively with pharmacy team members hospital and system pharmacy management.
The clinical manager will ensure that pharmacy services align and follow medication management standards as outlined by The Joint Commission, as well as following rules and regulations of the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. Encourages safe medication practices with a focus on patient safety. Must have excellent interdisciplinary relationships among fellow members of the healthcare team.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
5 years experience in hospital clinical pharmacy practice preferred.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
PharmD required, a minimum of 1 year post-doctoral training (or equivalent experience) required.
