To provide ethical and professional pharmaceutical services within the framework of Hospital and Departmental Policy, professional standards of practice, State and Federal laws, and JCAHO requirements and standards to insure enforcement of legal and professional issues related to drug control; as well as serving as an integral member of the patient care team to promote the profession’s primary objective of the advancement of rational, patient-oriented drug therapy. Facilitates the development, implementation and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost effective drug therapies. Participates as a team member of the pharmacy leadership team.
1. Pharm.D. degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy; licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia.
2. Three to five years’ experience in hospital pharmacy in a clinical supervisory and/or administrative position or two years of
hospital pharmacy supervising experience and a certificate from an ASHP accredited residency program.
3. Hospital experience should include areas of unit dose services, IV Admixture, TPN, drug information, pharmacokinetics, drug
use evaluation, education, pharmacy computer software and quality control procedures.
