The Client Technology Operations (CTO) Developer position is responsible for technical support, application development, implementation, and ongoing enhancements. The position provides technical responsibility and analysis for Reed Smith’s Client Technology Solutions (CTS) product suite and related applications. The CTO developer acts as a resource to others within and outside of the group and department, and is also responsible for varying levels of project management and client needs analysis.
nCustom Application Creation: Develop custom applications (primarily web-based) for use by staff, attorneys and clients. Including, but not limited to, all phases of the solution’s lifecycle from ideation through maintenance.
nSystem Integration and Augmentation: Extend, enhance and integrate systems (Relativity, SharePoint, Custom) within the Reed Smith environment with each other and future systems. Including understanding and working with 3rd party application APIs and source code, data integration via SQL, JSON and XML, extending application functionality via vendor approved methods and best practices.
nData Analysis and Visualization: Analyze large data sets to identify trends and then visualize the data and trends using Excel, HTML5 charts and graphs, Python, MATLab, R, SQL and TSQL.
nSystem Administration: Assist in administrating and maintaining large installations of third party solutions such as Relativity and SharePoint. This includes patch management, upgrades, issue troubleshooting, performance and resource management, and general system health checks.
nProficient in developing: Single Page Web Applications, Service Based Applications, Object Oriented design patterns, n-tier applications and custom libraries.
nA working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and supporting technologies including: SQL Server, Internet Information Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Office desktop application integration with SharePoint, Windows Workflow Foundation, Server farm design concepts, Windows networking principles
nA working knowledge of kCura Relativity and supporting technologies.
nWorking experience using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
nIdentify improvements where necessary to existing procedures and practices related to application development
nProvide off-hours and weekend technical support as required.
nTake ownership of particularly confidential, high-profile, or otherwise sensitive projects, users, and requests, keeping the CTO Manager or other personnel up to date as appropriate.
nWork with other teams to develop efficiencies in existing firm processes through the use of application automation and integration.
nRemain current on relevant technologies and industry standards through networking, as well as formal and informal training/education.
Education: BS in Computer Science or equivalent. Additional training, educations, and/or certification in relevant areas preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of development experience
- 3 to 5 years of large system administration
- 3 to 5 years development experience within the Microsoft .NET Framework
- 1 to 3 years development experience with HTML5, CSS and jQuery
- 1 to 3 years experience working with Microsoft SharePoint
- Understanding of relational database concepts and ability to apply these concepts in building data models
- Proven experience in graphical user interface design
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment
- Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
