Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, analyze and evaluate A&E claims, review and apply coverage terms and conditions, evaluate damages and set appropriate reserves.
  • Insure that exposure is properly recognized and that claims are promptly evaluated and appropriately reported internally and externally.
  • Work with outside counsel to develop and implement case resolution strategies, including review of proposed litigation budget.
  • Report to senior management, actuarial and underwriters regarding claims trends and developments to mitigate future exposures to those identified areas of loss.
  • Responsible for actively marketing the A&E products and services and taking on a risk management role in conjunction with our underwriters. This will include reviewing contracts for Insureds, producing webinars, drafting articles and white papers with assistance from outside counsel, assisting with production of quarterly newsletter, presenting risk management seminars and participating as a panelist at various A&E industry conferences throughout the country.
  • Assign claim files to member claim professionals in accordance with their abilities and development goals.
  • Review and approve work product of reporting claim professionals relative to investigation, coverage evaluation, and resolution of claims, including drafts of coverage position letters.
  • Review/audit claim files for appropriate handling and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience handling Architects and Engineers claims and/or Litigation.
  • Knowledge of claim and legal concepts and principles
  • Use of metrics to manage claim professionals, analyze and report on trends, and make recommendations regarding business strategy
  • Customer service focused
  • Familiarity with claims requirements in all states
  • Previous experience with claims litigation
  • State adjuster license(s)
  • Strong communication and excellent writing skills
  • Strong oral presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Bachelor's Degree required, law degree preferred.
  • Some travel is required primarily to attend mediations, settlement conferences, broker meetings and industry events.
