Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Inspector for immediate employment on the Caltrain Electrification program. The $2B program, one of the largest construction projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, will electrify the commuter rail service over 50 miles from San Francisco to San Jose.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Inspect the Work for compliance with the standards and specifications of the contract documents

  • Report non-conforming work to the client

  • Maintain records of the contractors’ labor force and on-site equipment

  • Prepare a daily report of contractors’ activities, inspections performed, issues that arose, visitors to the project, and discussions that took place

  • Meet with contractor staff at the beginning of each shift to determine what work is scheduled and who is on site

  • Coordinate and cooperate with client project manager during site inspections

  • Monitor contractor QA/QC activities and maintain relevant records

  • Assist the ARE and RE in the preparation of any correspondences in compliance with the contract documents and site requirements

  • Where site problems are found, work with the RE or ARE to resolve them promptly

  • Monitor the start-up, commissioning and handover of the Work, including maintaining records of the project milestones

  • Maintain records of materials tests performed

  • Auditinspections for conformity to contract documents and contractor submitted plans

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma

  • 10+ years' inspectionexperience on similar projects involving CIDH piles

  • Well experienced in civil and infrastructure supervision

  • High level of critical thinking skills

  • High level of numerical skills

  • Must have ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports etc.

  • Valid Driver License

  • Ability to perform field inspection duties

  • Willingness to work nights and weekends – work is scheduled to occur during off-peak and non-revenue service periods of Caltrain’s operating schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Previous experience working on an operating railroad right-of-way
