We hire colleagues with an entrepreneurial spirit who thrive on solving project challenges in a high-energy environment to help Parsons build a healthier and more sustainable world.   OPPORTUNITY:   Parsons is pleased to announce an exciting career opportunity for a Civil Engineer within the Water Group in Markham, Ontario.  Reporting directly to the Water Business Unit Manager, the successful candidate would have five or more years of related experience in municipal engineering.  Specifically, experience in the design of water supply distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater management, water/wastewater pumping stations/ treatment plants, local/collector roads, and other municipal projects is expected.  Junior staff mentoring and client liaison experience would be an asset.   RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of engineeringreports, documents, and drawings involving the planning, analysis and design of urban hydraulic systems (potable water distribution, wastewater collection and stormwater drainage)
  • Design linear infrastructure and water and wastewater facilities, including:
    • Water distribution
    • Sanitary and storm sewer systems
    • Stormwater management / drainage systems
    • Experience in the design of pump stations and reservoirs
    • Water/wastewater treatment plants is an asset
  • Coordinate the preparation of drawings required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates
  • Contribute to the cost effective, proper and timely production of engineering designs, that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved
  • Provide construction support and/or administration for municipal projects as required
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to CAD operators and junior technical staff
  • Provide Quality Management by ensuring quality procedures are followed for drawings and reports
  • Develop and maintain ongoing client relationships


  • Degree in Engineering and a minimum 5 years of civil-related work experience
  • Licenced as or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering design standards, codes and manuals, best practice guidelines, standard construction specifications, engineering drawing standards, and regulatory and permitting requirements
  • Proven time management, project management and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to meet project schedules and budgets.
  • Self-starter and team player with ability to work with a variety of simultaneous projects
  • Ability to effectively liaise with team members and clients
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to quality
