Job Description
This is a strategic leadership position to serve as a Discipline Leader for Large Civil Works in our Water Resources Infrastructure & Resiliency Community of Practice. In this position you will provide technical and quality oversight to civil design projects throughout the US. Projects may include design of large civil works (e.g., reservoirs, dams, levees, control structures, sector gates), ecosystem restoration and environmental remediation, coastal resiliency systems, stormwater and green infrastructure, transportation (complete streets), and site civil work associated with solid waste, and water treatment and water reclamation facilities.
As a strategic member of this team, you will have direct access to Practice Leaders, other Discipline Leaders and engineering and construction leaders across the organization and will be empowered to deliver innovative solutions while interacting effectively with clients, company management, administrators, project engineers, and vendors.
Main responsibilities include:
• Coordinate with the Water Resources Infrastructure
& Resiliency Practice Leader on strategy, sales,
delivery, technical luminescence, and staff
acquisition, training, and mentoring.
• Performs and coordinates quality checking of designs
for compliance with federal, state, and local
regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices
are followed on all designs. Familiarity with US Army
Corps of Engineers (USACE) and State agency
design standards are a plus.
• Contributes to firm's Technical Knowledge
Management by developing white papers and
technical design documentation of new or special
case designs, studies, etc.
• Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in
response to current and potential client requests for
proposal (RFPs). Reviews draft proposals for
adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal
regulations, and best practices. Meets with current
and potential future clients to review their current
and future design needs.
• Submits technical papers and designs for publishing
to technical journals.
• Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the
technical luminescence and visibility of the firm's
products and services in collaboration with applicable
sales staff.
• Acts as a primary point of contact for external client
and related industry contact. Collaborates with
clients and government officials to clarify technical
questions. Provides updates to project management
as necessary.
• Provides technical guidance and training to senior,
mid-level and junior staff as needed. Mentors staff
and develops them for future growth within the
discipline and firm. Supervises the work of engineers
on project work.
• Provides guidance to drafters/designers, engineers,
craft workers, other project team members,
contractors, or subcontractors.
• Alternative delivery experience such as progressive
design build is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license.
15 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Skills and Abilities
Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
Background Check and Drug Testing Information

Additional Compensation
