Position Summary:

The Children’s Surgery Program Manager (CSPM) is responsible for the organization of services and systems necessary for the multidisciplinary approach to providing care to children with surgical needs. The CSPM, in collaboration with the Medical Director of Children’s Surgery (MDCS), the Medical Director of Children’s Anesthesia (MDCA) and the Vice President of Quality management, provides program development and evaluation, project management, direction, management and program promotion for the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and Children’s Surgery Verification (CSV) Program. The CSPM will collaborate, facilitate, manage and integrate the administrative and review of children’s surgical care from admission to discharge. Assumes day-to-day responsibilities and oversight for process and performance improvement activities as related to nursing and ancillary services. The CSPM will work in collaboration with system quality leaders and staff as well as with performance improvement consultants.

Essential job functions include responsibilities in Quality, Documentation and Data Management, Assessment/ Planning/ Implementation, Communication, Leadership/ Professional Accountability, and Customer Service Excellence.

Other Important Job Functions:

  • Works closely with MDCS in preparation for and attends Children’s Surgical PIPS Committee.
  • Assesses opportunities for research publications and acts as liaison for such activities.
  • Works closely with the Hospital Quality Department to ensure there are close lines of communication and coordination on data management and quality improvement activities.
  • Works closely with clinical and administrative leadership in the surgery department on quality improvement programs and protocols.
  • Prepares reports that will assist senior leadership and Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in reaching goals and strategies, achieve budget goals, and assess the need for further program support such as research or data management.

This is a Full Time, Day Shift Leadership position reporting to the Vice President of Hospital Quality.

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada
  • Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related health field (PREFERRED)


  • Minimum 5 years nursing clinical experience (REQUIRED)
  • Minimum 3 years Pediatric Care Experience in Perioperative Services, Pediatrics or PICU (REQUIRED)
  • Current management experience (PREFERRED)
  • Progressive leadership experience (REQUIRED)
  • ACS verification survey experience (PREFERRED)


  • Current Nevada license to practice Nursing – Independently maintained
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (Provider Status REQUIRED or within 6 months of hire/ Instructor Status PREFERRED)
  • CNOR, CCRN and/or CPN Certifications (PREFERRED)
  • Acquires required contact hours as prescribed by the American College of Surgeons to meet program requirement

Special Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills necessary to manage and manipulate a large database.
  • Knowledge of the surgical patient care environment.
  • Proficiency in the review and abstraction of clinical patient information from a medical record.
  • Mathematical ability necessary to validate and analyze data. Demonstrates proficiency with PC-based applications (Word, Excel, Access, Visio, and PowerPoint) to report/analyze/document findings.
