Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and clear strategic direction that can integrate SOM’s various technology stakeholders and be embraced by our entire firm.
  • Evangelize and lead change management for a diverse global firm. Outgoing personality and ability to collaborate, build alliances, and achieve tangible results by engaging a wide range of personalities will be fundamental to our mutual success.
  • Develop forward thinking business strategies supported by ROI analysis and strong project management.
  • Provide strategic leadership to architects, engineers and technology professionals advancing our use of technology to revolutionize design and delivery processes, constantly and constructively challenging the status quo.
  • Work across multiple intersecting departments within the firm to implement systems and best practices to coalesce and harvest broad firm-wide knowledge including documents, images and design file formats, as well as unstructured or implicit / tacit knowledge that might not be directly retrievable.
  • Support and create space for innovation by giving ubiquitous access to knowledge, improving efficiency to give people more time and power to design.
  • Leverage and integrate the best in class software and platforms with minimal customization for design as well as business processes surrounding design and delivery.
  • Understand the business requirements idiosyncratic to SOM as well as those of the broader AEC industry.  Identify, prioritize and execute keys areas for appropriate innovation.
  • Ability to identify and attract top talent, mentor internal talent, and leverage outside consulting expertise.
  • Translate business into technical strategy

  • Develop and lead innovative, actionable, vision-driven initiative in collaborative environments to engage, inspire, and influence our architects and engineers.

Desired skills and expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, business or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior leader role within the tech/design/architecture/IT industry focusing on technology
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a team of professionals to meet the strategic business needs of the firm
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with leaders within the firm to develop and execute plans
  • Proven track record of effectively managing budgets
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution, consensus building skills
  • Superior relationship management skills: ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers, as well as effectively operate within a matrix organization
  • Collaborative and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Polished and persuasive communicator with impeccable written, oral, and presentation skills
  • Experience with Salesforce implementation, transitioning on-prem systems to cloud and lightweight application development platform implementation is a minimum requirement.
  • Experience with project management systems, ERP and accounting systems is necessary
