Role
Splunk is the leader in big data, machine learning analytics with a significant presence in the cyber security market. The Splunk Global Security (SGS) team is looking for a Chief of Staff to join our team. This role will work closely alongside the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to define our cyber security strategy, mature our partnerships (internally and externally) and drive the optimization of service delivery as we scale. You will lead a team of operational and communication professionals, while collaborating closely with our cybersecurity leadership and our multi-functional business partners. The ideal candidate is able to handle complex situations, has a bias for action with equally strong follow through and is comfortable defining strategy as well as overseeing operational detail. The position can be based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Tysons, VA or remote in the US.
Responsibilities
- Strategy Development and Partnerships
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CISO
- Collaborate with the SGS team and multi-functional partners to build and maintain short and long term strategies across the Splunk Global Security services
- Build key relationships across Splunk to champion a ‘built with security' mentality, enable the adoption of SGS services, influence their security priorities and raise awareness of applicable risks
- Operations and program management
- Own the strategic planning and budgeting process to ensure alignment with business objectives and investments, being responsible for the tracking and management of quarterly reporting and processes
- Lead program performance by analyzing operational data, deriving insights and influencing priorities to elevate the security posture across Splunk
- Lead operational strategies to scale service capabilities and delivery
- Ensure the timely and effective execution of medium- and long-term initiatives committed to by the CISO, to support implementation of security measures and services
- Partner with the security community and vendors to identify and incorporate scalable, best-in-class security techniques and solutions
- Represent Splunk and/or the CISO in technical cyber security discussions with strategic customers
- Communications
- Be responsible for the execution of the SGS communication strategy and organizational change management efforts
- Develop Executive-level and Board of Directors reporting, communications and presentations
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant work experience
- B.A./B.S or equivalent practical experience
- Technical knowledge of the threat landscape, adversarial techniques and mitigation
- Expertise developing and driving execution of strategy across multiple cyber security focus areas
- Use a data-driven approach to influence decision making
- Up to date understanding of current trends in the security industry
- Solid understanding and experience defending large scale application and multi-cloud environments
- Able to influence multi-functional priorities and explain sophisticated security topics to others who may have minimal technical knowledge
- Cultivates and builds a collaborative working relationship with operational and business partners
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Budget management experience: Department and projects
