The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) and Childrens Health System Texas (CHST) is seeking candidates at the associate/full professor level for theposition of Chief of Pediatric Radiology. Appointment rank will be commensurate withacademic accomplishments and experience.
The University is centrally located in Dallas, Texas and is undergoing unprecedented growth. We have recently built two new hospitals - a new Parkland Memorial county hospital, and a new University Hospital, both with busy neonatal intensive care units.
Candidates should be ABR-certified or eligible and have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pediatric Radiology. The candidate must have an American Board of Radiology sub-specialty certification in either Pediatric Radiology and/or Pediatric Neuroradiology . The pediatric radiology division consists of 24 radiologists with sub-divisions of Pediatric Neuroradiology and Pediatric Interventional Radiology. Most of our faculty members have an area of specialization within their practice.
Children's Medical Center is approved for 4 fellowship positions, which include Pediatric Radiology, Pediatric Interventional Radiology and Pediatric Neuroradiology. Additionally, Adult Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology fellows rotate through our division for pediatric training. Resident trainees from UTSW as well as regional training programs rotate through the department and a dedication to education is essential component ofthe position.
Childrens Medical Center Dallas is the 523 bed tertiary pediatric hospital for theChildrens Health System of Texas and UTSW as well as a Level 1 trauma center. Additional facilities include a lower acuity hospital in Plano, Texas as well as 2 outpatient imaging centers. Studies from these centers are interpreted by our pediatric radiologists along with studies from the neonatal intensive care units at Parkland Memorial Hospital and Clements University Hospital. Pediatric interventional procedures are performed at both CHST hospital sites.
CHST offers the highest caliber imaging technology. At the main hospital and adjacent outpatient center, there are two 3T MR scanners and three 1.5T MR scanners, three CT scanners, one PET-CT system, and 2 dedicated pediatric IR suites including a biplane suite for interventional and neurointerventional procedures. MR research support is provided by an on-site dedicated MR physicist, a Master Research Agreement withSiemens Medical Systems, and the Research program at UTSW. The ultrasound program is state of the art, offering both intravenous and intravesical contrast enhanced examinations. A new PET-CT unit is currently being installed. A strong cyclotron program is present on the north campus of UTSW.
The UTSW Department of Radiology offers a dynamic academic environment and is a source of collaboration on both clinical and research endeavors. The Radiology Department has a dedicated MR research scanner, a vibrant cyclotron and radiochemistry program, is installing a dedicated research PET-CT scanner and is completing a construction project to accommodate a program for MR guided HIFU with dedicated scientist specializing in direct therapy and targeted drug release.
