The chief engineer responsible for the direction of the engineering staff including all architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical designers as well as construction managers at Keesler AFB.


  • Manages, leads, and directs engineering staff to identify, program, design, and manage the construction of all Keesler AFB projects. Total volume worth up to 20 million a year in construction.
  • Keeps up to date with latest Air Force and DoD requirements to ensure work is accomplished in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Involved in design as both a project manager and project reviewer to ensure project accuracy and deadlines are met.
  • May be required to personally produce construction documents to meet surge periods and deadlines.
  • Helps develop reports on the status of facilities, infrastructure, and related systems for site leadership and higher headquarters. At the direction of the CE Manager, interacts with different organizations to determine and solve facility and infrastructure needs.
  • Helps oversee staffing issues for members of the engineering department.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the CE Manager


Standard office equipment (computer, AutoCad, Microsoft Office software, printer, copier, and telephone).

May require driving to various locations on Keesler AFB to review construction and design issues, emergencies, or meetings.


Office environment, required to handle multiple ongoing tasks, occasional site visits required.

Work week is 40 hours, 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, 7AM to 4PM. Additional hours may be required as necessary.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or Architecture from an ABET Accredited University. Must be a licensed professional able to obtain a Mississippi License within 3 months of hire.


5 years of experience in engineering of industrial or military facilities and the organization and implementation of design and construction programs. Must have working knowledge of current construction codes and the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC). Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD. Management, Supervisory, and technical experience requirements may be combined where the duties overlap. U.S. Air Force Civil Engineering experience is very desirable, but not mandatory.
