ABC 17 News is looking for someone to help lead the company's news product while growing his/her own career. The company is looking for a CHIEF METEOROLOGIST. The right candidate will be given the opportunity to join a vibrant team of journalists who remain on the cutting edge of this constantly changing field.

Job Description:

As the CHIEF METEORLOGIST, the employee is expected to lead a team of meteorologists and weathercasters covering Mid-Missouri by anchoring and producing forecasts for nightly newscasts, multiple digital platforms and leading the effort in extended coverage of severe weather across all platforms. The position sets the tone for the news department's weather team, which plays an important role in the station sustaining its brand and meeting its goals. Along with being the chief strategist for the weather team, the position sets the example for innovation of content delivery. There will be an expectation that the employee will make community appearances and be a goodwill ambassador for the stations. The job also includes management duties like setting schedules and assisting the news director in running the weather team. There will be other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The right candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively, have strong organizational skills, be comfortable on camera and have a strong professional appearance. We prefer a candidate with at least two-year's experience in on-air meteorology who has experience using The Weather Company products which include Max Studio and Max Storm. This is a full-time position, scheduled Monday through Friday from 2:00pm -- 11:00pm with flexibility required by the employee. A college degree in meteorology, atmospheric sciences or a related field is preferred. Candidate must have a valid Missouri driver's license and pass a drug test and background check.
