Wilson & Company is now looking for a Chief Marketing Officer to lead the Wilson & Company marketing, business development, corporate communications, and creative services efforts. The CMO will report to the CEO as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. The person we are looking for will bring a knowledge of the best marketing practices of the A/E/C community, a disciplined approach, a competitive drive and a clear vision to lead a talented team focused on “winning work”. We are looking for a leader with the combination of drive and humility that will bring out the best in our staff.

Essential Job Functions:

    • Develop marketing strategies and serve as primary strategy advisor to the principals
    • Contribute to and participate in key decisions affecting the firm’s marketing strategy
    • Maintain an aligned “One Company” collaborative approach to marketing and business development efforts
    • Increase new/added sales and the firm-wide “hit rate”
    • Develop and implement strategies to expand existing markets and enter new markets
    • Develop comprehensive annual marketing plans, including targets and metrics, based on strategic planning by principals
    • Ensure alignment of client and project capture plans with corporate strategies
    • Work with other members of management and marketing/business development teams to achieve firm-wide goals
    • Maximize marketing effectiveness and efficiency by gathering and disseminating best practices throughout the organization
    • Monitor and control firm-wide marketing activities, expenses, results, and other metrics; perform assessments on business acquisition performance and effectiveness,
    • Perform benchmarking in designated markets, including competition, strategic intelligence, and market and industry trends
    • Evaluate results of marketing operation, including performance of peers in marketing functions
    • Assure that go/no-go decision processes are being implemented that assess each potential pursuit in regard to its ability to meet the firm’s strategic positioning and goals
    • Oversee the management of the firm’s brand and reputation
    • Oversee corporate communications and public relations across all channels and manages crisis communication when/if necessary
    • Foster a professional atmosphere charged with enthusiasm and energy for the firm’s goals and mission
    • Work with the HR team to oversee the recruitment and selection of key marketing, business development, corporate communications and creative services leaders

Direct Reports:

  • Direct the efforts of key senior staff including the managers of the firm’s Corporate Communications and Creative Services Team
  • Supervise the marketing support and business development staff in all offices
  • Support the growth of individuals involved in business acquisition through mentoring and coaching
  • Take a lead role in goal setting, performance measurement, and compensation, rewards and recognition for direct reports and key staff within his or her functional groups
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities of the marketing, business development, corporate communications and creative services teams

Required Experience

  • Thorough understanding of A/E/C industry with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated track record for leading teams to industry leading performance in marketing and sales success
  • Comprehensive and broad knowledge of best practices in communication, public relations, community relations, marketing, and branding
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact within all levels of an organization, both within and outside the firm
  • Excellent leadership, managerial and mentoring/teaching skills
  • Ability to inspire staff through effective motivation and team building
  • Ability to effectively provide open and effective communication with all stakeholders at the appropriate levels
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills
  • Proven track record for business acquisition and marketing excellence
  • Highly organized and able to follow through in a consistent manner
  • Proven ability to close deals
  • Persistent and influential interpersonal style
  • Participation and involvement in high-profile positions within professional and community organizations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical or marketing field; Master’s Degree preferred
  • CPSM Certification preferred
