The position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) requires insight into emerging technology and business trends, an understanding of security threats and risks, strong knowledge of current technology standards and best practices in a global IT environment. This leader will have solid experience in driving change at a strategic level with tangible business results. The ideal candidate will have strong technical experience and a solid understanding of business solutions, supporting security initiatives, applications, systems development, project management and strong business financial acumen. This role will require someone who is able to mentor and develop a high caliber team that supports the business strategy and goals. The right candidate will be an excellent facilitator, collaborator, and negotiator. This leader will be comfortable working with various departments and guiding a large staff through frequently changing requirements to support ADTRAN's global business goals.

  • Ensure the selection and implementation of technology meets the strategic needs of the company.
  • Oversight of both the local area and wide area networks to ensure highly reliable and cost effective solutions.
  • Direct and approve the design of security systems.
  • Ensure that disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place and tested.
  • Ensure compliance with the global laws and applicable regulations including GDPR, Privacy Shield, etc.
  • Focus on both the training and overall awareness of cybersecurity.
  • Ensure that the right controls are in place and the right tools to mitigate cybersecurity risk are in use.
  • Schedule periodic security audits.
  • Review and approve security policies, controls and cyber incident response planning.
  • Enforce and manage cybersecurity controls for vendors.
  • Constantly update the cyber security strategy to leverage new technology and threat information.
  • Participate as a member of the senior management team in governance processes of the organization's security strategies.
  • Develop and communicate security strategies and plans to executive team, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and own the IT technology roadmap for the company, this includes identifying areas where improvements of existing IT technology would help the company achieve its strategic initiatives. Focus on methods to exploit technologies in ways that create value for the organization.
  • Inspire and lead staff to embrace collaboration, collegiality, transparency, and accountability in pursuit of superior customer service.
  • Ensure that the network security policies protect the data, but do not inhibit an innovative and collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related technical field is required.
  • Certifications in one or more of ITIL, CISM, OSCP, CISSP, CGEIT preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience managing IT teams.
  • Experience leading large IT organizations of 60 to 100 employees distributed globally.
  • Proven experience in planning, organizing, and developing cybersecurity processes and technologies to limit risk to the enterprise.
  • Demonstrable experience in driving change at strategic level with tangible business results.
  • Capable of building and retaining high-caliber staff.
  • Ability to manage development costs and quality for both internally developed systems as well as 3rd party suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of financial management processes.
  • Experience in a global company with multiple international business locations.
  • Strong background in technology and evolving trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to anticipate risks and develop effective mitigations.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, frequent change, or unpredictability.
  • Strong team leadership and personnel development skills.
  • Effective track record in implementation and management of Enterprise wide software solutions including ERP, PLM, and CRM.
  • Limited sporadic travel is expected for this position.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.A. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
  • Communications -- Applicant must possess highly developed oral and written communication skills. Applicant must have the ability to communicate complex data simply to a wide range of audiences. Effective leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Initiative/Follow-Through -- Applicant must maintain a current understanding of ADTRAN's products and innovative technologies. Applicant must be self-motivated and be able to work independently with minimal supervision, must be able to work as a team member in a group environment for the completion of design tasks, and must possess the ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects in different stages with a sense of urgency and efficiency.
  • Leadership: The applicant must possess the ability to develop and operate within short and long-term strategies and develop and motivate staff to achieve departmental objectives. Applicant must be able to communicate goals, give appropriate direction, and resolve issues. The applicant must be able to carry out responsibilities in accordance with the ADTRAN's policies and applicable laws.
