Chief Financial OfficerACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
Responsible for providing financial direction to VyStar Credit Union and its subsidiaries, including creation of the annual budget, all economic and financial forecasting (short-term and long-term), financial risk management, capital planning, financial planning, financial accounting, financial analysis, investment decisions and cash management. Responsible for the internal operations of, and back office support and member services (as applicable) provided by the Accounting Department, Senior Investments Portfolio Manager, Finance Planning & Analysis, Capital Planning & Stress Testing, and VyStar Financial Group. Also responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of corporate insurance coverage. Incumbent must ensure adherence to regulations related to these areas, whether state or federal in nature.The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports directly to the President & CEO and serves as a highly visible key strategic partner to the entire senior leadership team. The CFO will provide direction and oversight of the overall financial management of the credit union. The CFO will be comfortable and focused on leading our financial well-being to include: Accounting, Financial Risk Management, Financial Planning & Analysis, Capital Planning, Strategy, Budgeting, Reporting and Financial Control Systems. Additionally, providing support for the Strategy Office in Mergers and Acquisitions. The CFO will be a strategic partner to the organization using an analytical approach in formulating winning strategies.
Oversees VyStar’s appropriate market positioning of service and pricing to members; helps establish dividend policies and rates as well as loan rates and helps develop and revise deposit services. Serves on the ALCO Committee, oversees the development of VyStar’s Asset Liability Management (ALM) and works with all internal and external auditors, as well as state and federal regulators to verify the financial reports and performance of VyStar. Serves on the loan approval committee for Business Lending, which includes rate setting for those loans. Is a critical member of the Senior Team.
Analyses operations and VyStar systems for delivering required budgeting, analysis and reporting, while at the same time streamlining and improving operations of VyStar. Continually develops cost control recommendations. Implements and executes new systems and services. Develops and maintains reporting to monitor cost centers and system optimization. Analyzes all products and services for cost effectiveness and analyzes the overall performance of VyStar. Offers strategic guidance to ensure we maintain sound financial performance and operate within a sound ALM strategy. Seeks and implements means to enhance revenue.
Ensures all departments within scope of responsibility are maintaining all operations currently, accurately and in compliance of rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Reports on activities of departments. Decides non-routine significant matters outside authority of Senior Management and Vice Presidents reporting to the incumbent.
Provides for the fair presentation of VyStar's financial affairs via financial statements prepared in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Maintains financial records in conformity with prudent guidelines of regulatory agencies (state and federal) and GAAP.
Provides for the effective employment of VyStar cash funds including the development of investment strategies in general and investment instrument recommendations. Develops credit union investment policies for submission to the President/
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The minimum level of formal education required is a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting or finance. A Master’s degree in finance or accounting is preferred. An active CPA is preferred.
A minimum of ten years leadership experience in finance, financial risk management and accounting is required. Preferred experience to be within a similarly sized or larger Financial Services Institution. Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning and communication skills required. Experience in investments, strategic planning, accounting, financial risk management and the ability to successfully work with and negotiate with external regulators required.
