The Arc Jet, built in the early 1960s, is a critical facility for NASA space exploration. It is the only NASA facility capable of testing re-entry materials. The Ames Arc Jet complex is a unique arc heated wind tunnel complex that provides critical test capability for the development of thermal protection systems necessary for hypersonic flight and atmospheric reentry. Ames Arc Jet facilities will be critical to the United States efforts to return to the moon and to travel to Mars and beyond. The Arc Jet Modernization Project is an effort to increase the reliability of the Arc Jet by replacing aging components.
The scope of this SOW is to support the NASA Ames Arc Jet Modernization Project in providing independent technical guidance and engineering oversight for all aspects of the project. This SOW allows for the establishment of a Chief Engineering position to support the Project Management in the planning, engineering, impleme
