Division Chief, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics

The Opportunity

Penn State Health Children's Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania is seeking an entrepreneurial physician leader for the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics to enhance and grow this important program.

The Division Chief, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics serves a critical leadership role in growing, developing, and maintaining programs within the division. The Chief will have interest and experience in teaching medical students, pediatric residents, and other learners in the clinical setting. An interest in research would be supported but is not required.With responsibility for all clinical, educational, research, and operational functioning within the division, the Division Chief will oversee budgeting, physician staff management, patient services, and other functions related to the division.

Experience should include a full range of developmental disorders, particularly evaluation and management of autism, attention deficit disorder and medication use for co-morbidities. Area of specialization in other aspects of development including aspects of behavior management, developmental co-morbidities associated with genetic disorder or young children with significant developmental impairment would be preferred.

The candidate will have a proven record as a problem solver and the ability to implement innovative solutions to contemporary challenges.The new Chief, Developmental Behavior Pediatrics will have demonstrated leadership in clinical care, administration and have a strong clinical expertise within the field of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics.

Education/Certifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree or MD/PhD from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Pediatrics with fellowship training in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics.
  • Board-certification in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics.
  • Eligibility for permanent, unrestricted licensure in Pennsylvania.
  • Management/Leadership experience preferred.


The Organization

Penn State Health Children's Hospital (PSHCH) is the only children's hospital in central Pennsylvania with the region's only pediatric intensive care unit, level IV neonatal intensive care unit (56 beds) and pediatric trauma center. This 146-bed facility, included within the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center license, treats more than 125,000 patients annually, was constructed on the principles of family-centered care.PSHCH is routinely ranked among the best Children's Hospitals in the nation due to their focus on patient care, safety, and research.

In 2020 the Children's Hospital expand by three additional floors, including a new neonatal intensive care unit and integrated Labor and Delivery service. These new facilities provide integrated antepartum and postpartum units and include nine LDRs and 36 postpartum beds, as well as a 56-bed NICU constructed atop Penn State Health Children's Hospital.

The Division of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics

The Division of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics specializes in autism, attention deficit disorder, sleep disorders, learning problems and developmental delays.

The Developmental Behavioral Division provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluations for children with suspected autism, ADHD, and a variety of developmental impairments. Current special interests of the division include psychopharmacology for treatment of aggression, use of medical marijuana in setting of autism, behavioral sleep evaluation and treatment, assessment of speech apraxia and other complex speech disorders as well as evaluation of reading disorders, including dyslexia.
