Requires a bachelor's degree with 1-2years of industry or undergraduate research experience, or a master's degree with research experience.
Description of Responsibilities
Evaluates the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic materials using gas adsorption/surface analysis techniques, such as chemisorption and BET physisorption analyses. Familiarity with mechanical/vacuum systems and fundamental chemical and physical principles (e.g. ideal gas law, phase equilibria, mass transfer) is strongly preferred. (50% of time)
Operates HPLC and similar analytical instruments, and assists with method development and troubleshooting. Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and/or 5S is desirable. (50% of time)
Looking for someone with lab experience, BS degree with undergraduateexperience is a plus. Thesis based master's degree is good.
Will involve working with vacuum systems, familiarity with pumps or vacuum pumps, reactor systems experience is a plus.
Working with powder samples, weight out samples, perform sample prep procedures, washing with mild acids, drying and transferring to instrumentation to run method.
Someone who is ready to be trained and hit the ground running, mechanical aptitude.
Chemistry, chemical/mechanical/materials engineering, and physics backgrounds are of interest.
Experience with: basic lab work (e.g. weighing powder samples, pipetting liquid samples, handling chemicals, etc.); operating HPLC and/or GC instrumentation; and working with/troubleshooting vacuum systems and/or pressurized gas lines/manifolds
This person will prepare samples and perform analyses using HPLC, GC, and gas adsorption (e.g. BET surface area) instrumentation, which will require weighing/pipetting samples, diluting with solvents, preparing mobile phases and standards, operating and troubleshooting the instrumentation (with guidance and assistance from other team members), and reporting results. In some cases, this work will need to be done according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
