Lead the laboratory in conceptualization and development of new coatings formulations to enhance business opportunities.
***Support strategic planning for future products with research and development team.
*** Assign and coordinate bench chemists in the Research and Development team effectively including setting time tables, project milestones, and performance reviews.
*** Direct activities of multiple technical personnel, including contract labs and any academic affiliations with the organization.
*** Assess contract aerosol packaging, vendor readiness, and ability to troubleshoot manufacturing scale-up problems.
*** Develop solvent, waterborne, epoxy, urethane, and acrylic based coatings for exterior usage on mainly metal substrates.
*** Provide plant support, assist new product scale up, and resolve technical issues that arise in conjunction with plant personnel, sales, and management.
*** Plan and implement pilot plant launch and commercialization of new products including standard product testing such as weight per gallon, tint strength, viscosity, color matching, and adhesion.
*** Train personnel in scientific project planning, performance rating and general lab management.
