Title: Administrator, Database Under general supervision, designs, creates, analyzes, and implements systems and programs based on user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve application programs. Maintains database by identifying and solving database requirements and supporting users.
Essential Functions:

• Implements & configures databases appropriate to business requirements (OLTP, decision support, standby database, replication)
• Establishes database tools and scripts to proactively monitors databases and send alerts to enable the DBAs to reduce outages
• Monitors nightly production interface jobs between the AS400 applications and other vendor systems or software packages
• Develops and generates various database reports to help plan for capacity and performance
• Investigates and resolves technical database issues
• Performs analysis and determination of database performance characteristics, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities for multiple applications. Recommends and implements SQL tuning opportunities to improve system response and run times
• Defines logical attributes and data inter-relationships and designs data structures to accommodate database implementation, storage, maintenance, and accessibility to enhance performance
• Develops and documents standards, procedures, and work instructions for database support that help in increased productivity for operations
• Optimizes database accessibility by developing load balancing architectures and processes to eliminate downtime for backup processes
• Implements and supports database security regulations, policies, and guidelines. Monitors security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats; installs necessary security patches to ensure ongoing database security
• Manages and develops team members/partners on a portfolio of databases, including installations and upgrades of DBMS software and backup/recovery strategies, as needed
• Reviews and approves application and database design decisions to ensure that application solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and reliability upon deployment
• Serves as the primary interface for the business to interact with all services
• Identifies and removes barriers by working with internal and external stakeholders
• Prioritizes workload in accordance with goals
• Ensures compliance with all audit and security issues (Client & government regulations)
• Participates in Root Cause Analysis reviews when applicable
• Provides 24/7 on-call technical support
• Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university required.
• Minimum five (5) years of database administration and applications development experience or closely related experience required.
• Certification in MS SQL Server, MS SSIS, MS SSRS, and DB2 preferred.
