The primary purpose of this position is to: The Category Marketing Manager will be responsible for providing support to the Davidson organization in the management and development of retail marketing, new business, sales, retail services, and customer communications. The Marketing Manager will collaborate across departments to develop and implement print/web-based collateral, advertising, sales presentations, retailer marketing program operations and development, and customer communications.
Support sales initiatives by working with New Business, Independent Sales, Chain Sales and Category Management teams, as well as internal departments, on the creation of value proposition materials, specifically, sales presentations, vendor facing materials and web based applications, marketing and training materials to ensure consistent content and corporate branding
Manage trade publication advertising, to include analysis of advertising spending and messaging to identify opportunities for improvement and propose advertising strategy, determining themes for ads, being point of contact for publication team and creation of ads.
Work with legal to ensure value proposition and vendor program content adheres to vendor agreements. Review and implement the retail marketing programs, to include websites, retail marketing vendor(s), vendors involved in the production of store circulars, etc.
Management and development of the retail marketing program that supports independent customers. Responsibilities include budgeting, marketing, new program development, growth and management of over annual budge.
Creation/update of informational materials for programs, services, etc. available to our customers and partners to include the development of merchandising programs, Independent quarterly newsletter, Retail Marketing programs, Digital Marketing Guides, Retail Theme marketing and any special projects as requested by management.
Management of the customer web portal, to include working with internal and external business partners to ensure content is accurate and up-to-date.
Special projects as requested by management to engage/retain customers and vendors through marketing efforts (e.g. Salesforce.com sales pipeline creation, Customer Invoice Redesign project, integration of Salesforce.com online customer service forms with My Store, Sustainability Practices information/program, etc.)
Has accountability for the performance and results of a large, strategically important discipline in an extremely large market; and/or related disciplines or a medium-sized function in a large market or medium-sized division; and/or a medium-sized discipline or department in a major region. Adapts and executes functional or departmental business plans and contributes to the development of functional or departmental strategies . Decisions are guided by functional or major operational segment strategies and priorities.
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related degree; or equivalent experience
5+years inmarketing experience inretail grocery and/or application support/training
Strong technical knowledge of how web-based technologies apply to web design such as HTML, Flash, CSS, and AJAX. Knowledge of Web site structure and functionality, including LifeRay and Drupal platforms, Mastery of website analytics tools (Google Analytics), Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Macromedia Flash, Proficient in MS Office Suite, with strong background creating PowerPoint presentations
Demonstrated experience in developing strategic and tactical growth plans. Strong presentation skills accompanied with exceptional interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to plan, set objectives, measure performance, provide direction and build a culture of employee involvement at all levels.
Some Travel Required (20% - 30%)
