The Sr. Manager of Business Continuity is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and managing the business disruption and recovery programs for C&S Wholesale Grocer community from all types of business disruption risks (e.g., weather-related events, pandemics, terrorist acts, criminal acts, etc.) in accordance with best practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Please note the job will be available in early 2019.
Develop and Update Business Impact Analyses: Identify and assess business disruption risks and their impacts for each department on a regular basis. Conduct location risk assessments of critical facilities to identify potential threats and coordinate the development of recommendations.
Design and Maintain Tactical and Strategic Plans: Work closely with the Procurement, Warehousing, Transportation, and Information Systems Departments regarding disaster recovery/business continuity needs. Develop business recovery and crisis management plans and procedures governing the business offices and operations associated with the company with oversight from the leader of business continuity. Ensure plans and procedures cover critical business resources and crisis communications. Review and revise plans to improve usability, consistency across the company, ease ofmaintenance, and accessibility to external parties. Also, maintain other BCP-related documentation (e.g., policies, contact lists, etc.)
Conduct Tests and Exercises: Design and conduct tests and exercises on a regular basis to ensure the different business continuity plans and procedures are executed as designed and train the Crisis Management Team on their roles and responsibilities. Manage resolution of issues discovered during tests and exercises.
Monitor Emerging Threats: Monitor and distribute regular reports to the Crisis Management Team on possible threats or risks that can negatively affect any part of the C&S Wholesale Grocer community (e.g., critical facilities, key warehouses, supplier or customer operations, etc.)
Assist Crisis Management Team: Based on possible business disruption risks, suggest the activation of the Crisis Management Team (CMT). Assist and support the CMT in the implementation of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) with support of the leaders across the organization.
Manage Response to Business Disruptions: Execute and refine BCP strategies to address possible business disruption risks and/or emergencies. Facilitate interdepartmental meetings and conference calls. Maintain contact with local government response to inform the CMT’s decisions and response strategies.
Lead After Action Reviews: After an actual business disruption event, facilitate an after action review involving the affected departments, resulting in a report that includes the strengths and areas of improvement. Coordinate with departments to resolve improvement areas. Update appropriate plans with new information.
Increase Employee Awareness: Assist in the design and implementation of a company-wide business continuity awareness and education program to ensure that all personnel clearly understand their responsibilities before, during, and after a business disruption event.
Align Plans with External Partners: Coordinate and confirm suppliers and customers understand how the company responds to different types of business disruption events.
Respond to Regulatory and Audit Requests: Anticipate regulatory and audit BCP concerns and assist leader of Business Continuity in the management of examinations and regulator responses in coordination with appropriate C&S departments.
Strengthen Private-Public Partnership: Representing the interests of the company, act as a liaison and create a strong relationship with the local, state, and federal government along with the leader of Business Continuity.
Evaluate BCP Program: Coordinate and deliver all communications to management and external stakeholders (e.g., regulators, auditors, and customers) regarding the status of the business continuity program, including annual reporting, audit report responses, and customer requests with oversight from the leader of business continuity. Improve BCP Program based on best practices.
Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from senior manager ; Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.
Develops departmental plans , including business, production, operational and/or organizational priorities. Controls resources and policy formation in area of responsibility. Decisions are guided by resource availability and functional objectives.
Education/Certification Requirement : Bachelor’s Degree
Specialized Knowledge : project management and critical thinking skills required, certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) a plus
Experience : 7+ years’ experience, a minimum of 3 years directly related to Business Continuity, emergency management, disaster recovery, crisis management or related field.
Special Skills : Superior interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills a must. Ability to meet inflexible deadlines and detail orientation critical.
