Job Summary: The Category Manager is responsible for supporting multiple functions throughout the organization by leading business analytics initiatives, managing Sales Development technology platforms, and managing the product life cycle program.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Results Area:

Engagement and Collaboration

  • Present and strategize cross-functionally including Directors, Vice Presidents, and C-Suite
  • Strategize with Marketing, Demand, and Supply Planning to identify, measure, and communicate product lifecycle milestones
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop action plans based on insights that capitalize on customer opportunities and mitigate competitive threats
  • Collaborate with Sales Planners to align on best practices and tactical strategies that optimize business units
  • Engage with the Business Insights department to best understand customer purchase behaviors and mine data
  • Develop actionable strategies that evolve our retail customers' omni-channel capability
  • Identify prospective site locations for retail outlets based on demographic, social, economic, shopper, competitive, and mobility analytics
  • Leverage analytics to maximize national advertising spend across brands
  • Work with IT to establish software connectivity to onboard new and updated data sets

Project and Program Management

  • Manage the Sales Development product life cycle program: new product launch, promotional pricing, promotional effectiveness, and product closeout inventory management
  • Design and manage our Price File Wizard software platform
  • Evolve the design of our new product launch software platform
  • Execute within defined project and department budgets
  • Enhance promotional post mortem effectiveness to improve future promotional decisions
  • Lead our Holiday Insights program to better understand category promotional effectiveness and optimize future promotional offerings
  • Manage vendor partner teams to develop and optimize Market Assessment Plan application
  • Collaborate with Customer Marketing to design optimized promotional and advertising pages for our Market Assessment Plan application

Data Modeling

  • Identify and analyze key business insights and brand performance for better understanding of future business trends
  • Create and build models, processes, and platforms for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting real-time data
  • Create and publish reports that highlight key business metrics and identify sales opportunities
  • Drive engagement, conversion, and customer retention across the entire customer lifecycle by integrating business insights and category analytics into business plans
  • Lead organization in data mining for relevant business insights that improve business decisions
  • Re-invent reports and modeling to improve organization's data literacy
  • Build and maintain predictive analytic models to build wholesale retailer confidence in our ability to service with agility and confidence
  • Perform data collection and generate reporting using visualization tools

Ideal Candidate Possesses These Attributes:

  • Technologically savvy. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Power BI
  • Understanding of SQL recommended
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing funnels and metrics
  • Deep insights knowledge and experience (7+ years), including consumer shopper, and digital insights
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large data sets
  • Syndicated data experience -- Proficient in various data platforms
  • Confident understanding of financial models
  • A passionate ambassador for the brand with the ability to convey the corporate message (vision and strategy)
  • Detail oriented with an eye for discovering data inconsistencies and business trends
  • Aptitude for "big picture" scope and understanding

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree is required
  • MBA Preferred
  • Minimum of 7+ years data analysis experience in consumer products environment desired
