What you will do

As a Category Manager, you will have the opportunity to drive value through sourcing activities along multiple lines of business and category areas, globally.  You will be responsible for building and maintaining business partner and supplier relationships.  You will develop supply market insights to help inform business strategy. 

 

Your role will be to principally manage Align’s Professional Services spend as well as some other spend areas.  This is a new role and a new category.  You will be expected to make sense of the data, develop a strategy, and execute that strategy in alignment with your business partners’ needs.  This role will require a great deal of influencing skills as you’ll be responsible for identifying and building the right business partner relationships and show the value of your strategy.  This is an exciting newly created position where you will be the first to address Professional Services as a sourcing category and a role that will certainly evolve over time.  

 

Depending on your background this role may instead support our IT division.  Although our relationship with IT exists today, it is still new.  We would look for someone with significant IT experience and the ability to demonstrate competencies and value immediately.  The scope of this role would be supporting all software and hardware activities and developing a strong strategy to increase managed spend and drive additional savings.  You must be comfortable working with and influencing senior executives both internally and externally.


Our Indirect Sourcing department is new and building from the ground up.  If you have an entrepreneurial mindset, get excited about building relationships and category strategies from scratch then you will thrive in this environment.  A large portion of this role will consist of identifying opportunities and categories to focus on, developing a plan, and executing against those strategies.

Requirements

5-10 years in a Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Supplier Management, and/or Procurement role

Medical Devices, Manufacturing, High Tech, or Management Consulting industry experience a plus
Strong project management skills
Highly organized, can take ambiguous situations and make sense out of them
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Strong Change Management and Influencing skills
Ability to handle difficult situations and come to alignment

Global experience a plus

 

Education

BS/BA; MBA Preferred
