In this strategic role, you will work closely within the supply chain team as well as with engineering and manufacturing teams to coordinate sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing of new and existing mechanical components, assemblies, engineering services, and production line test apparatus to satisfy new product development and manufacturing schedules and cost targets. You will execute the group procurement strategies to realize business objectives. Some of the responsibilities you can expect to assume are:

  • Identify, select, qualify, and form strategic partnerships with suppliers based on product development strategies and engineering | manufacturing needs within framework of ASSA ABLOY strategic direction.
  • Evaluate suppliers' capabilities with regard to quality, technology, service, cost competitiveness, capacity, financial strengths, flexibility, and commitment.
  • Negotiate the best price and terms as well as ongoing expectations. Execute master purchase agreements.
  • Develop sourcing and overall supply chain strategies within the mechanical category.
  • Manage sourcing projects as project leader, work closely with engineering and manufacturing to ensure seamless project implementation.
  • Work upstream on product development programs pending requirements and align with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales in order to ensure sourcing given adequate cycle time to procure material.
  • Work closely with the procurement team on cost, source information, lead-time, and other appropriate information to the production environment.
  • Facilitate and manage any supplier performance (i.e. cost, quality, delivery, customer service).
  • Work with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Customers as well as suppliers on identified Value Engineering initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for?

To succeed in this role we believe you need a minimum of 5 years of experience using skills as a seasoned, experienced professional in commodity management and/or program/project management with an emphasis within supply chain management. Strong negotiation skills with a collaborative approach is necessary.

A Bachelor's Degree is required for this position, preferably in Supply Chain Management or Engineering.

In depth knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, particularly in the area of castings and forgings

To succeed in this role you must be a person with good interpersonal and social skills, with the ability to problem solve collaboratively across functional groups.
