Carrier Relations ManagerThe Carrier Relations Manager oversees a team of transportation specialists and executes transportation procurement strategies for an assigned region.

Detailed Description

  • Manage and maintain strategic transportation supplier relationships with suppliers senior leadership
  • Manage transportation procurement activities including long term, ad hoc, and tactical procurement for assigned region
  • Involved in the development and execution of department strategy and setting of team goals
  • Work with sales department to provide estimated transportation costs for new customers and new routes
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities to reduce Total Cost of Ownership for assigned region
  • Assist in the Development of fact-based negotiation tools and strategies to achieve the lowest Total Cost of Ownership
  • Understand spending trends, cost drivers, market conditions, geographic considerations and critical factors that dictate purchasing strategies for assigned region
  • Assist department director in creating and analyzing RFP/RFQ bid events
  • Develop and present routine category reports for management
  • Provide recommendations for supplier process improvements
  • Assist in vendor qualification process by collaborating and developing positive relationships with internal/external stakeholders
  • Attend supplier onsite visits and weekly phone calls to discuss supplier performance
  • Work closely with account specialist to ensure service levels are achieved and identify opportunities to increase operational success and achieve maximum efficiency
  • Conduct market and risk analysis to drive category strategies.
  • Lead and drive the development of strategic category plans in conjunction with key stakeholders.
