Responsibilities

  • Lead department in strategy, policy and procedure development, and budgeting at the hospital level
  • Participate in Allina wide care management initiatives such as readmissions, ACP, SCT referrals, LOS, OBS/OP initiatives
  • Ensure effective relationships with external agencies such as SNF, participate in community benefit activities, and support care management manager in all activities related to Care Management, Social Work and Utilization Review
  • Support best of practice across Allina Care management, Social Work and Utilization Management and participate in Allina efforts for Care Improvement
  • Complies with regulatory standards, including Joint Commission, CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards
  • Full complement of adult CV surgery and thoracic surgery utilizing the newest technology and procedures
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex, matrixed operations
  • Alignment with organizational and service line goals around the triple aim
  • Demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism to promote accountability and trust
  • Direct patient care guided by the confidence of superior outcomes and superior patient experience on either an inpatient or outpatient basis
  • Involvement in strategic planning and program development
  • Functions in a group practice setting with night, weekend call responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care for clinical patients for designated specialty
  • Functions appropriately as part of care delivery team through efficient use of resources and skills, both their own and those of other provider and staff
  • Chart in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope
  • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management
  • Quality improvement utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes or workflows

Education

  • This position requires a Medical Doctorate degree (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years CV surgical experience

Skills

  • History of effectively collaborating and communicating with referring cardiologists to expand business and provide best possible care for patients
  • Strong orientation toward patient experience, quality improvement and team building in group practice model
  • Advanced written, verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create a productive environment that promotes collegiality and innovation in inpatient and outpatient settings

Licensure/Certifications

  • Eligible for unrestricted licensure for the state of Minnesota
  • M.D. with board certification(s) by American Board of Thoracic Surgery
  • Must have current, unrestricted Minnesota State Medical Licensure
  • Must be board certified or be eligible for board certification within designated specialty
