Working within the Triple Aim and the MPHC Care Model of team-based, patient-centered care, theCardiologist serves as a leader of the MPHC cardiac care strategy and as aninternal resource to our Primary Care Providers for general cardiology consultation and education, non-invasive studies, therapeutic interventions, and pharmacologic intervention in cardiac care. This position will combine both leadershipresponsibilities and clinical provider activities. This positionreports directly to the PracticeMedical Director at the site he/she will be practicing in. This positionworks closely and collaboratively with the MPHC LLC Presidents, PracticeMedical Directors, VP of the Delivery System, VP of Primary Care Development, the Chief Delivery System Officer, and theChief Medical Officer in a matrix management environment tosupport the business success and development of a cardiology program that willsupport all MPHC LLC’s over time with initial focus on the Portland campus.
Position Summary: Working within the Triple Aim and the MPHC Care Model of team-based, patient-centered care, the Cardiologist serves as a leader of the MPHC cardiac care strategy and as an internal resource to our Primary Care Providers for general cardiology consultation and education, non-invasive studies, therapeutic interventions, and pharmacologic intervention in cardiac care. This position will combine both leadership responsibilities and clinical provider activities. This position reports directly to the Practice Medical Director at the site he/she will be practicing in. This position works closely and collaboratively with the MPHC LLC Presidents, Practice Medical Directors, VP of the Delivery System, VP of Primary Care Development, the Chief Delivery System Officer, and the Chief Medical Officer in a matrix management environment to support the business success and development of a cardiology program that will support all MPHC LLC’s over time with initial focus on the Portland campus.
S/he also acts as the key referral agent to partner with cardiology health centers as appropriate and will serve as the critical liaison between office-based cardiology care and hospitalization for complex cardiology care and interventions. As with all MPHC physicians, the Cardiologist will manage the cardiovascular care of a panel of patients by using best practices to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases and injuries, support cardiology call coverage for the practices, and provide guidance and oversight of our cardiology staff. In his/her administrative role, provider will assist in review of practice referral patterns, utilization review, development of cardiology strategy across LL’s, and be an advocate for our Triple Aims. Provider will focus on high patient satisfaction and retention, develop strong partnerships with colleagues and staff, and strive to model and support the MPHC values.
Deliver needed cardiology services based on the tenets of evidence based medicine with an eye toward measurable optimal outcomes, careful coordination and containment of associated services to control costs for patient and organization while delivering the highest quality of care. Act as ongoing resource to MPHC providers in education and updates on key technology and interventions involved in cardiovascular care. Maintain patient satisfaction levels consistent with standards set for all MPHC providers. In partnership with all MPHC providers, uphold organizational values, culture, and citizenship Initially, this position will practice within the MPMG LLC and be located at the Portland campus. Therefore, s/he will report to the Portland Practice Medical Director for clinical work, and will report to the CMO for administrative duties. This role will have the potential to evolve to a specialty director position as MPHC builds its multispecialty program.
Partner and consult with provider teams to ensure mutual needs of coverage, care decisions, and staff supervision and create continuity of care for patients. Act as first point for all physicians around cardiac issues and strategies. Participate in Clinical team meetings and projects to keep abreast of organizational initiatives and direction, quality of care outcomes, risk assessment and mitigation, financial performance and process improvement opportunities for all clinical services. Maintain board certification and competencies through participation in relevant CME programs and demonstrated competence through board re-examination, and certification in BLS, ALS, or similar programs that emphasize skills acquisition and demonstration. Act as Cardiology Medical Director during cardiac accreditation periods. Partner with the CMO and other LLC leadership to design, develop, and help administer an emergency response team.
-- Level III training in echocardiography.
-- Level II training in echocardiography plus one year of experience that includes interpretation of at least 600 echocardiogram/Doppler examinations.
-- Three years of echocardiography practice experience and at least 1800 echocardiogram/Doppler examination interpretations, with Testamur status by the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) in Echocardiography.
