LyondellBasell’s Procurement and Utilities group facilitates supply solutions globally for LyondellBasell. We manage supplier relationships in order to provide value to our internal customers in the acquisition of materials, services, and utilities.


This position will be located at our Houston Engineering Center, only 14 short miles east of downtown Houston, TX. The position offers a competitive base salary, bonus, 401K matching, generous benefits package, pension plan and employee discounts.


The Capital Sourcing Procurement Manager is an essential member of the project procurement team that is responsible for the following:

  • Cost and schedule compliance
  • Supports execution of project procurement plans for engineered and bulk equipment
  • Provides oversight and direction to project buyers as instructed by project procurement manager
  • Analyzes market data (material pricing, shop loading, etc.) to determine pre-buy or other spend leverage scenarios in consultation with the Project Procurement Manager
  • Effective internal client and supplier relationships up to the senior executive level
  • Liaison between LYB materials category staff, legal teams, EPC and contractors


Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Acts as deputy to the project procurement manager
  • Oversees project buyers with direction from project procurement manager
  • Focal point for negotiation of spot purchases and select master agreements
  • Ensures accurate and timely deliveries of purchased materials and equipment to job site to meet or improve project schedule.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and expedites progress on engineering data and final material deliveries directly or indirectly through EP or C contractor.
  • Maintains metrics reporting used to update organizational leadership.
  • Liaises and coordinates with logistics service provider to oversee and ensure logistics plans (ocean, rail, or truck shipping, heavy haul, etc. ) supportrequired on site dates.
  • Creates opportunities to deliver cost savings through strategic sourcing options, evaluation of new vendor options, and leveraging market analysis.
  • Ensures compliance with LYB supplier qualification process
  • Manages entire requisition to material receipt process
  • Maintains relationships with key business and manufacturing partners and key supplier contacts.


Critical Competencies/Behaviors:

  • Leader willing to challenge the project procurement manage and EP or C contractors to ensure procurement cycle execution remains on time and on/below budgets.
  • Experience in multi-year/multi-million-dollar expenditures negotiating and contracting national or global agreements
  • Experience in establishing commodity/segment strategies and management with regional and global vendors is preferred.


Education and Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degreerequired.
  • 10+ years’ experiencewithin owner organization leading project procurement utilizing EP contractor as owner’s agent for projects with TIC of more than $500 MM required.
  • 5-10+ years of oil, gas, or petrochemical related industry experience and knowledge related to purchasing and materials management is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in positions mastering knowledge of business processes in a commercial environment preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in positions mastering knowledge of business processes in a commercial environment preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Strong bias to action and sense of urgency.
  • Some experience in services contracting (construction, logistics, pipe spool fabrication) is preferred.
