Position Description

Successful candidate will play a key role in enabling the Equity Investment Technology’s BSC team to deliver simple, effective, timely and affordable information technology solutions to complex investment decision-making and execution problems/opportunities for the WellsCap Equity business.  In addition, the candidate will work with the other BSC team members, Software Development teams, EIT Infrastructure team and Governance teams, WellsCap Investment Operations, WellsCap Compliance and key technology vendors as part of implementing technology solutions.  Candidates in this position will focus high priority initiatives spanning portfolio management, trading, and the Managed Accounts business. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Facilitate the onboarding of investment team acquisitions
  • Analyze, and define foundational functions/platforms
  • Contribute to definition of project work streams – planning, sizing and scheduling
  • Demonstrate and deep understanding of the equity investment business 
  • Prior experience supporting equity traders, portfolio managers and financial analysts to understand pro-actively the technology needs of the firm’s various equity investment teams and to communicate opportunities, progress, and accomplishments
  • Works as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, document, communicate and validate requirements
  • Works closely with Systems Development teams to clarify business requirements and translate business requirements to technical requirements
  • Develops detailed test plans & test cases and conducts system integration & user acceptance testing to validate and certify developed solutions
  • Conducts user training and promotes solution adoption
  • Documents clearly and concisely the information necessary to support the applications and solutions
  • Participates in the daily support and maintenance of the systems and applications
  • Support to the team’s critical applications
  • Ensures that escalated issues are tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner
  • Results driven, conveying a sense of urgency and bringing issues to closure despite obstacles and opposition
  • Demonstrating outstanding flexibility and teamwork  
  • Demonstrating sound decision making which reflects an understanding of the firm’s equity business and its priorities.
  • Ability to work overtime and occasionally travel

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of business systems analysis experience, business systems design experience, or a combination of both

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • BS/BA degree or higher
  • Knowledge and understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC): all phases and types of testing

Other Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technology experience focused on equity trading, portfolio management and or managed account (SMA) platforms in roles demonstrating strong knowledge of business processes, systems analysis, quality assurance, project management and application support expertise 
  • Solid understanding of equity investment decision process including trading, trade settlement the associated technology platforms  
  • Must possess excellent client level engagement skills
  • 5+ years of experience with portfolio analytical applications such FactSet, Bloomberg or trading applications such as Charles River Development
  • Good project management skills and ability to lead small/medium sized multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Proven ability to document business & functional requirements, test plans & test cases with testing methodologies, workflows, business processes and information needed for system support
  • Ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing business priorities, unexpected challenges meet deadlines and works well under pressure
  • Ability build consensus and agreements by way of calm and focused negotiations
  • Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service to all stakeholders
  • Demonstrates outstanding flexibility, teamwork and a sense of ownership
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts to solve complex business and technology problems
  • Past experience working with software engineers and other technical support professionals
  • Good understanding of relational databases; SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, etc, and the ability to write simple to complex SQL queries
  • Experience with and knowledge of WellsCap or Evergreen Investments technology strongly preferred
  • CFA or MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of hands on experience with Charles River IMS version 9 or greater
  • 5+ years of hands on experience with FactSet
  • 5+ years of hands on experience with Fiserv’s Unified Wealth Platform
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing trading data such as trade cost analytics, commissions and commission budgets
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining strong relationships with the various equity investment and trading teams
  • Proven ability to tailor and deliver information to the needs of the target audience
  • Skilled in MS Excel/Access applications and creating basic reports using Microsoft, Business Objects (Crystal Reports) or similar tools.
