The general purpose of the Genentech Patient Foundation (Foundation) Business Lead - Shipping and Distribution is to lead or represent Foundation policies and activities in key areas including shipping, Bulk and Batch shipment processing, programs with key external partners as well as act as the Foundation liaison to our internal vendor management teams managing distribution vendors.
These activities are to be carried out in full alignment with Genentech Patient Foundation Policies, Mission and the evolving external market drivers impacting patients.
This role plays a key role in setting the overarching approach and strategy for the Foundation to support effective delivery of free medicine to patients and providers as well as ensure effective and appropriate engagements with key external partners. This role is crucial to ensuring optimal creation and execution of policy, infrastructure and tactics in support in these areas.
Key Accountabilities Include:
Act as overall lead for criteria, policy and strategies related to setting and executing shipping, bulk and partner programs for Foundation shipping and distribution.
Take a forward-looking approach to determine emerging opportunities and needs for future Foundation shipping, bulk programs and external partner engagements.
Set up and manage infrastructure that enables effective SAP utilization by Foundation team.
Recommend changes to areas of accountability in consultation with Legal, Compliance, Access Solutions and GPF LT.
Partner with other AS teams, including Operations, Design Leads, and Cross-Portfolio to ensure effective pull-through of program needs across appropriate partner functions.
Maintain operational aspects of programs including all criteria, SOPs and practices in alignment with GPF Policy and other applicable GNE policies
Assist in incorporating program requirements as required.
Proactively communicates with internal and external partners to ensure ongoing alignment and understanding of policies, tactics and implications of these programs.
Understands internal and external stakeholders point a view, communicates effectively and ensures alignment on business objectives

Bachelors Degree required (general business, health sciences, managed healthcare, public policy or related disciplines are a plus)
MBA or other related graduate-level degree is a plus
An average of 6 or more years' related work experience in healthcare/healthcare reimbursement
Must demonstrate outstanding knowledge and proficiency in a number of realms/aspects related to healthcare reimbursement and drug distribution: general knowledge/understanding of the managed care industry/environment, to include government payors; proficiency in all aspects of reimbursement, i.e., benefit investigations, key practices in wholesale or specialty pharmacy distribution, case management systems, payor reimbursement policies and procedures, regulatory and administrative rules, etc.
Must demonstrate expertise in Patient Assistance Program systems, processes, policies, and other relevant departmental procedures/proto.
