The Nielsen account team servicing Walmart is looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Architect to lead the development of reporting and BI solutions, deliver maximum value to our client through powerful solutions, and create insights that empower Walmart to grow their business. Working under the guidance of a Technical Solutions Team Lead, the Business Intelligence (BI) Architect will contribute to the overall client satisfaction, team success, and technical platform capabilities. A strong candidate will lead the development of best-in-class analytics and reporting solutions for our clients while leveraging Nielsen’s world class data assets.
Applies analytic curiosity and creativity to build and deliver custom reporting and business intelligence solutions to deliver valuable insights to our clients
Write SQL scripts of varying complexity to build robust ETL processes managing the transformation, manipulation and staging needed for solutions development
Collaborates with client services, internal and external stakeholders and subject-matter experts to understand the needs, challenges, and opportunities that exist to improve our solutions portfolio
Designs and develops engaging solutions by working with MicroStrategy, SQL, and MS Office to develop reports, dashboards, and applications
Works with the Performance and Platform team to understand and leverage new data and systems capabilities
Keeps efficiency in mind proactively looking for opportunities to automate solutions and manual business processes
Work cross-functionally with external Clients and teams responsible for backend databases
Demonstrate proficiency in technology platforms to develop knowledge necessary to support Client delivery
Be a positive influence for change management; lead by example
Build knowledge across all categories to become the key information resource for internal and external clients
Must display sense of urgency and commitment to excellence
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or other technical field required
Masters Degree or advanced technical certifications a plus
4-7 years of experience with development using BI software (MicroStrategy, Tableau, PowerBI, Cognos, Spotfire) required.
3 years experience with Angular or other front-end web application experience a plus.
3 years of experience with SQL and relational databases (MS SQL Server) a plus.
3 years of experience in design and user experience (UX)
Highly experienced in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and Google (Sheets, Slides, and Docs)
Experience with descriptive and exploratory analysis using data collection, extraction and manipulation techniques.
Experience with process scheduling and automation is preferred but not required (eg. Visual Cron)
Experience with Retail or Consumer Goods data is preferred.
Experience coding in VBA, Java, Python, R, or compareable language is a plus.
Familarity with Scrum or Agile development philosphies is a plus.
