This role reports into the UL Renewables Division. Ideally, this position will be located in one of our offices such as San Diego, Albany or Chicago with consideration for other locations. You will collaborate with the rest of the Global commercial team and will work closely with other service lines. You will be physically located alongside UL colleagues from different fields, however, in this role, all business related collaboration is managed remotely. Therefore, it is important that you enjoy working independently and are prepared to structure your daily work tasks. High level of autonomy and proactivity will be required.

This position will report to the Global Business Development Manager.

Our Customers are both onshore and offshore wind farm developers, lenders and investors, operators, wind turbine and component manufacturers, among others. Being responsible for the North American Business Development, you play a key role in identifying, developing and supporting our customers to satisfy their needs. The responsibility of this new position will be to expand our Asset Management and Wind Testing business in North America through our existing new and existing client base and to support other parts of the Renewables business as needed.


  • Co-develop and execute a plan to expand and grow the Asset Management and Testing business in North America in collaboration with the corresponding service line leaders.
  • Grow the Asset management and Testing business with new and existing customers.
  • Establish and maintain a long-term and trustful relationship with our customers.
  • Manage RFPs and lead tender preparation, submission and negotiation in alignment with the Asset Management and the Testing team.
  • Represent UL at industry events, trade fairs and working groups promoting our services to develop commercial opportunities.
  • Support the team in developing yearly sales plans and identify specific development areas in North America for our services in Asset Management and Testing.
  • Support the development of a network of special service providers and engineers in areas not covered by UL but required to provide a comprehensive service.
  • Work independently on an international team.


To succeed in this role, you will have several years of experience in the renewables north American market – ideally in third party Asset Management related services with a strong customer focus.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about the renewable industry. In addition, you should possess:

  • University degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Deep understanding of the renewable project lifecycle, specifically in the operational part of the value chain
  • Strong Technical background experience related with Asset Management services (asset owners and operators) and the renewable Testing business
  • Businesses Development and/or commercial experience in the North American market (at least 5 to 10 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role)
  • Ability for team work and collaboration
  • Good knowledge of legal requirements, technical standards and best practices
  • Strong customer focus and strong interpersonal skills to establish trustful relationships, ability to sell and to close orders
  • Ability to communicate effectively to internally and externally
  • Ability to promote our services to technical and commercial decision makers as well as to engineers evaluating our service
  • Significant business travel and work outside of the office is required
