BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (BDEV-18-0102-F):

 

Bowhead is GROWING and we are looking for a Business Development Manager that will be significant in formulating and executing strategy development, technical proposal writing and cost proposal formulation and review. The Business Development Manager is responsible for the development of company objectives, and strategic plans in order to achieve business opportunities, growth, and financial profitability. 

 

Identify and oversee the implementation of innovative business development and sales strategies by leveraging product and service offerings in company's horizontal and vertical markets. Craft solutions to meet customer needs while positioning company for future prospects.

 

Essential functions will include:

 

?       Coordinate with members of the pursuit team (including proposal and pricing team) throughout the entire sales cycle (initiation to completion) for delivery, to propose customized solutions to clients on highly complex projects.

 

?       Research market and generate new business leads to enhance company revenues and profits.

 

?       Develop strategic business relationships with key decision makers including customers' senior management.

 

?       Interface withinternal department senior management and external partners to develop and implement strategies and plans.

 

?       Represent the company in meetings with leadership in the customer community and with industry partners to discuss future opportunities.

 

?       Brief company capabilities, and must be able to listen and understand customer?s wants, needs, and requirements.

 

?       Develop strong business relationships with counterparts at other industry partners.

 

?       Utilize critical thinking skills to determine the value of a company in composing a team to pursue an opportunity.

 

?       Make recommendations about forming teams to pursue bid opportunities, and must be able to understand when to prime, and when to act as subcontractor.

 

?       Critically assess the teams' strengths and weaknesses versus a statement of work in a request for proposal.

 

?       Determine new business courses of action and create programs to support actions.

Works under minimal direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Typically reports to a director level and has subordinate levels of supervision.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS             

 

?       BS/BA PLUS eight (8) years? of relevant experience as a business development lead or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience should include:

 

** Leading capture of large priority DoD and Government opportunities

** Win methodologies, competitive assessments and strategy development

** Teaming arrangements

** Advance intelligence gathering

** Technical proposal writing

** Cost proposal formulation and review

 

?       PMP Certification is a plus, but not a requirement, for the position.

 

?       Proposal writing experience according to the Shipley method.

 

?       Requires strong interpersonal skills and presentation / briefing skills necessary to interact with prospective clients, team members, and senior decision makers.

 

?       Strong verbal and written communication skills with strong sales and negotiation skills.

 

?       Computer savvy with solid experience using Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, and Outlook.

 

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
