Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking an Environmental & Engineering Branch Manager with a minimum of 15 years' experience to effectively develop project work and manage, implement and oversee site assessments, remediation and other related environmental projects in support of FDEP and commercial client assessment and remediation services.

This exciting opportunity offers a growth position in a team-oriented environment for an individual with an established track record as a Seller/Doer. Candidate should have a successful track record executing and managing environmental projects in Florida. Local projects include environmental assessments and studies, environmental remediation, and site civil engineering. Candidates should be self-motivated, have experience with managing a team, and able to work on projects with variable complexity. Directs and supervises the day-to-day activities of a group of engineers, scientists, and other technical personnel. The candidate should possess a balanced portfolio of skills including a strong technical understanding of their primary area of practice and experience in other aspects of environmental consulting, including business development and business management interests and experience, and demonstrated relationship-building abilities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide leadership in technical, business development, financial and administrative aspects of the consulting business to sustain and expand a successful multi-discipline operation
  • Proven experience and results as a catalyst for business development and growth of similar operations
  • Superior communication skills effective with clients, staff and other Wood senior/executive leadership
  • Strong working relationships with FDEP Project Managers and senior managers
  • Significant internal and external client interaction; makes recommendations and resolves issues
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop and retain new prospects for future growth
  • Supervises and coordinates the activities of assigned unit; recommends measures to improve performance and increase efficiency; manages staff utilization
  • Initiates personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures
  • Responsible for monitoring quality of the unit's service delivery and implementing corrective measures
  • Oversee the development and monitoring of financial plans
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing policies and procedures, and making decisions about the purchase of equipment, materials and services
  • Prepares and submits various management reports
  • Recognizes, initiates, and advances business development opportunities
  • Maintain and foster a strong Health and Safety culture
  • Interprets, implements, and enforces company policies
  • Work with the Regional Leadership Team to provide strategic direction for the local business
  • Provide engineering and project management oversight and be responsible for delivering engineering projects
  • Capable of functioning independently on office-specific issues and with minimal management engagement, oversight, and/or approval


Skills / Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geology or related science or engineering discipline
  • PE or PG required
  • 15+ years experience in engineering, project management, and operations management
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead, train and mentor staff
  • Good communication, report writing, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Understands federal, state, industrial and municipal markets with demonstrated skill in marketing and proposal development
  • Possesses and demonstrates an enthusiasm to develop client and strategic teaming relationships through regular personal contact
  • Capable of functioning independently on office-specific issues and with minimal management engagement, oversight, and/or approval
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop business from new and existing clients
  • Thorough understanding of the company's resources, capabilities, business practices, and financial model
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
