Our client is a leading distributor of aluminum and a manufacturer of finished aluminum products. They offer a diverse inventory and distribute a complete line of sheets, coils, plates, bars, structural shapes, tubes, pipes and extrusions in the most varied alloys and sizes possible. They also provide value-added processing services and cutting edge machining and fabrication capabilities to help customers produce anything from a simple aluminum part to complex assemblies.
The Branch Manager will be responsible for the profit and loss of the non-union operation, including the planning, control and direction of the sales force, operations team and support personnel to obtain maximum demand, sales volume and efficiencies for the Company's products. He/She will also be responsible for all aspects of the operations and all general office functions including oversight of a workforce of 17 people in a three year old, 50,000 square foot facility.
The successful candidate will have a solid record of successful leadership experience in either operations or sales in a highly service-oriented environment and will bring a sense of urgency and passion that is both apparent and exciting.
The successful candidate will possess strong, documented credentials in the development and execution of strategically defined sales programs and will have shown growth in different market environments. He/She should also have knowledge of operations with some experience in such areas as ISO compliance, JIT programs, and SPC methodology, among others.
The Branch Manager will be a team-oriented individual who is collaborative by nature as well as assertive and goal-oriented, with a strong emphasis on an ability to work well in a team environment, develop and implement plans and solve customer problems. An ability to sell at all levels of an organization to a diverse customer base is required. A technical aptitude is considered a plus, as is previous experience in working with aluminum or other metal products.
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of business ethics and exude a professional, leadership-oriented image. He/She will not be opposed to some travel and customer, vendor or colleague contact and will be a hands-on manager who is not averse to making sales calls, securing orders, collaborating with senior management on order specifics, inserting orders into the company's system and managing production in order to provide on time delivery.
Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as traits such as competitiveness, creativity and loyalty are important. A self starter, the candidate should be highly motivated, able to work with a minimum of supervision and welcome contact with a diverse group of individuals. At least an undergraduate degree is preferred, with an advanced degree considered a plus.
