Reporting directly to the Managing Director of the Books Business across Academic Publishing, this role is responsible for the development and delivery of the global marketing strategy in Higher Education, focusing faculty and student needs in the upper level and advanced course level markets. In addition, the role will take commercial accountability for developing our understanding of and opportunities in the digital environment in global learning markets, developing our insight on innovation to improve student outcomes and success.

This is a highly accountable role which requires a proven self-starter to lead and develop a global team of marketers through a changing environment of engagement through transformational marketing.


  • Lead, inspire and coach a global team to ensure high engagement, delivery of objectives, and a culture of high performance
  • Create, own and implement the high-level marketing strategy for this important sector which feeds into the overall Taylor & Francis books strategy and business prioritization
  • Develop strategic and commercial plans, continuously monitoring the market opportunities & challenges.
  • Ensure the customer is front of mind in all marketing activities and campaigns undertaken.
  • Lead, inspire and coach a global team to ensure high engagement, delivery of objectives, and a culture of high performance
  • Recognize new emerging trends in the textbook adoption market and prepare the business to be one step ahead in readiness to capitalize on opportunities.
  • Lead and implement large scale changes to processes throughout a department to make decisions to benefit the organization
  • Research and explore possible acquisition opportunities.
  • Producing key visions for how digital marketing can be used to transform processes to reach new and growing customer segments.
  • Partner across the academic publishing business, with Editorial, Sales, Technology and Product to achieve results on cross departmental projects
  • Develop and optimize a robust CRM program, website development, SEO & strategic affiliates which drives quality acquisition and retention

Skills and Capabilities:

  • A strong and established background in leading a global marketing team with proven leadership and change management skills
  • Proven experience of taking global teams through transformational change
  • Must have valuable business insight and ability to craft a strategy, establish measurable outcomes, and deliver results
  • Experience with new multimedia and digital technologies is required
  • Experience in publishing or related sectors and the routes to market for the industry, including online resellers and 3rd party aggregators
  • Passionate about the customer experience
  • Significant experience and familiarity with a range of global markets along with proven success in driving new business growth and market penetration
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment and make confident and impactful decisions
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity with resilience
  • P&L/ Budgeting capabilities

This position can be based out of any of our US locations; Philadelphia, Boca Raton or New York, or out of our Milton Park, Oxfordshire office.
