Job Description
The Immunology Services group in the Biosciences Division at SRI International seeks a Research Scientist to help advance the development of a broad range of biologics, including therapeutic antibodies, vaccines, and recombinant proteins. The responsibility of the position includes designing and executing immunology assays and analyzing the resulting data independently, as well as managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. In addition to bench work, the candidate will be expected to publish results in peer-reviewed journals and assist in writing proposals for contracts and grants to bring in external funding. This position will report to the Director of Toxicology and Immunology Services.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with a team of Immunologist and Research Associates to develop and validate ligand binding, immunogenicity, and neutralizing antibody assays
- Conduct multiplexed, and specialized in vivo assays
- Conduct other immunological assays including, but not limited to ELISpot, and flow cytometry
- Perform work under GLP, GMP and GCP regulations
- Collect, analyze, summarize, and interpret scientific data
- Write study reports suitable for inclusion in IND submissions
- Write or edit SOPs as needed
- Assist in preparation of commercial and government proposals to obtain external funding
- Supervise and train technical staff
- Develop and improve new skills and knowledge necessary to successfully support assigned projects
- Maintain a clean and safe lab environment
- Attend scientific seminars/conferences (local or within USA)
Qualifications
- PhD in immunology with at least 5-8 years of experience in an industry setting is preferred
- Strong scientific credentials and a track record of successfully validating immunological assay in accordance with FDA and ICH guidelines
- Extensive experience with developing and validating ligand binding assays such as ELISA, MSD or Luminex
- Proficiency in mammalian cell culture
- Proficiency in developing and conducting functional cell-based assays such as ELISpot
- Experience with conduct of viral assays and basic understanding of virology is highly desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in leading, developing, and managing technical staff is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
- Independent work skills, cleanliness, and strong work ethics
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
