We're looking for a creative, collaborative, and highly motivated computational biologist to join our Applied Biosciences R&D team to work on exciting, advanced biology research projects for the U.S. Government.
What You Will Do:
Work with a team of about 12 people, and contribute to a multi-year interdisciplinary program that brings together teams in biology, engineering, and data science to develop and transition new biotechnology solutions in support of national security
Occasional overnight travel may be required
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience oran Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated programming experience (navigating Linux command line environment. analysis notebook and script development in Python, etc.).
Active and transferable secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Highly preferable to have a degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
Bioinformatics software development and analysis experience with a knowledge of common bioinformatics tools and workflows (genomics required; additional ‘omics modalities desirable).
Experience working with common bioinformatics databases (NCBI, UniProt, PDB, etc.).
Experience with data science: data analysis, automation, visualization techniques.
Strong programming skills (Python and/or R preferred).
Basic familiarity with development infrastructure such as git/version control, virtual environments (e.g., conda, Python venv, R renv, virtual machines), etc.
Biostatistics experience, experience applying biostatistics tools in R.
Experience writing proposals and scientific publications.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to generate data analysis reports and presentations.
Experience working outside of academia.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
