  • The Division Trauma Services AVP works closely with the Clinical Services Group Trauma Services AVP for the National Group and Division CMO to carry out the CSG Trauma Services and Mountain Division’s mission. The Division AVP leads development of strategies and tools to advance clinical performance in defined sectors of trauma services and system development. This position collaborates with the Division officers and leaders of other division service lines to promote the mission. To ensure appropriate alignment of performance improvement, growth, compliance, and technological advances, the AVP works with the facility senior officers and the facility Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Director and other Trauma Services team members.
  • The Division AVP serves as a professional expert on trauma services to ensure the delivery of optimal quality trauma patient care as defined by national and state standards of practice. The position ensures trauma center readiness and compliance with the American College of Surgeons and state trauma center regulations. Additionally, the position has oversight of registry data, performance metrics, and research initiatives that produce exemplary optimal quality outcomes and performance for the trauma centers in the divisions.


  • Carries out the strategic and long-range planning for the divisions
  • Participates in the development of goals and objectives for trauma services that are in alignment with the HCA Trauma Service line, hospital, division and group strategic plans
  • Defines standards of trauma care for nursing and patient care services that promote a multidisciplinary approach to coordination of patient care, meets regulatory and legal standards and integrates evidence-based practice.
  • Advises and consults on new development, trauma center survey readiness, performance metrics and research activities.
  • Communicates with the key stakeholders at the facilities and visits onsite. Visits facilities onsite for mock surveys, evaluation of performance and to assess other needs.
  • Facilitates gap analysis, coordinates assessment measures and advises on financial pro formas with facilitates for development of trauma centers.
  • Collaborates with the Trauma Registry Director in registry activities that promote data integrity and reporting performance metrics across the enterprise trauma centers.
  • Participates in the CSG Trauma Services Division Lead meetings and activities.
  • Collaborates with group, division and facility senior leadership, Trauma Medical Directors, Trauma Program Managers/Directors and physicians to promote evidence-based practice to troubleshoot /problem solve issues or processes and monitors appropriate corrective action plans.


  • Requires at least 10 years of direct clinical emergency or critical care trauma care experience and a minimum of 5 years leadership experience as a Trauma Program Manager/Director in a nationally recognized verified Level I or II trauma center. Multi-market experiencepreferred. Bachelors in Nursing and Master in health related field required.


  • Current active licensure as a Registered Nurse in state of employment. Member of Society of Trauma Nurses (STN), Eastern Association of Surgery for Trauma (EAST) and other national trauma professional organizations. Current knowledge of American College of Surgeons and state regulations for trauma centers, Joint Commission mandates for regulations and standards for trauma services. Demonstrated expertise in negotiation, coaching, and interpersonal skills. Advanced skills in clinical leadership and financial management and research initiatives. Ability to guide individuals and groups toward desired outcomes, setting high performance standards and delivering quality services.
