Sompo has a unique opportunity in our North America Product Developmentteam for an AVP, Technical Product Line Manager - Commercial Property,

The Product Development team is responsible for managing commercial property and casualty insurance products for Sompo Insurance. This Technical Product Line Manager is responsible for managing commercial property insurance products for Sompo North America Insurance. This includes maintaining and developing needed insurance products, implementing strategies for appropriate rate levels and assisting in the development of appropriate underwriting guidelines and tools to deliver a compliant product. The Technical Product Line Manager is recognized for her or his high level of technical expertise in the handling of Insurance Services Office (ISO) and independent proprietary products.

What you'll be doing:
  • Coordinate the company's product development and maintenance activities for the analysis and adoption of forms, loss costs, rules and other related regulatory items.
  • Lead development of approved new or updated products as needed for geographical expansion initiatives or for specific business units. This includes collaboration with Underwriting, Legal, Claims, State Filing, and Actuarial. functions to create appropriate coverage language and rating approaches.
  • Conduct underwriting audits on designated lines of business to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory compliance. Provide feedback and transparency during the process as well as support for implementation and compliance with audit recommendations.
  • In collaboration with underwriting, legal and other functions, implement underwriting guidelines, resources and tools that contribute to company compliance, underwriting standards, and profitability.


What you'll bring:
  • College degree and /or CPCU preferred
  • 7 + years' experience in underwriting commercial lines of business with emphasis on designated lines of business as noted above. Inland or Ocean Marine, Builders Risk, or specialty lines experience would be helpful.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively (written & verbal) with co-workers and other colleagues.
  • Experience in product line management, ISO products, and admitted business preferred.
  • Understanding of state filing process and experience in handling large accounts preferred.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and good business judgment.
  • Experience using Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Adobe/Nitro, SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.


Salary Range: $100,000 - $155,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
