Provides centralized management for System Access consisting of MyVisit™ (pre-financial clearance), ambulatory utilization review, financial counseling, point of service collections, hospital cashiers, trusted advisors, and Patient Access Services operational functions within Geisinger Health. Directs, manages and implements programs to insure efficient operations of the Geisinger Health Revenue Management program to provide "world class" patient service while generating sufficient revenue and cash flow to support Geisinger operations and strategic initiatives. In the position of AVP of Access, responsibilities include managing, formulating new programs, identifying areas of opportunity for program improvement, benchmarking against industry best practice models, reducing duplication of effort while increasing efficiency and resolving any hospital and ED registration, registration, financial clearance, point-of-service, and ambulatory utilization review issues associated with approximately $4 billion in net revenue, $800 million of hospital and professional accounts receivable, while insuring monthly cash flow of approximately $300 million. These responsibilities further include the management of approximately 345.0 FTE's regarding these Access revenue cycle functions. These functions are in a decentralized environment across multiple entities and maintains an operating budget of $25 million.
Competencies and Skills:
Demonstrates extensive knowledge (i.e. minimum of seven years) of Revenue Management Access and regulatory requirements as they relate to Revenue Cycle Access/Utilization Review functions. Experience preferred within a similar setting of size or volume. Must have experience managing large scale revenue cycle functions, utilizing enterprise KPIs to make informed decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Demonstrates strong presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate to many different audience levels. Familiarity with computerized applications is essential.
Education and or Experience:
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Business Administration preferred.
Minimum of seven years experience with payers, providers, hospitals and physicians and understand the commensurate requirements for facilitating all ambulatory utilization review and pre-service financial arrangements, patient access/registration issues, financial clearance, point-of-service programs, financial counseling, front-end customer service, and various revenue related issues.
Experience within an integrated revenue cycle or centralized business office for a large-scale multi-site or multi-entity hospital system and/or physician practice plan preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Some travel is required across the Geisinger footprint, 20% or less.
