The AVP of Legal, Compliance & Government Affairs (LCGA) Operations serves as a key advisor to the Chief Legal Officer in establishing and executing on the Department’s strategy, with the goal of creating a best-in-class organization that exemplifies the Company’s commitment to operational excellence. The role is directly responsible for implementing strategic projects and initiatives for the Department, managing the Department’s budget and external and internal expenditures and providing the leadership, information, technology and other tools & analysis necessary for the Department to performs its mission efficiently and effectively.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Strategic Planning

  • Assist the Chief Legal Officer, Deputy General Counsel and Senior Leadership team in developing the Department’s strategic plan, which is expected to address, among other things, technology, management of external & internal expenditures and talent development & engagement
  • Working closely with the Company’s IT Department, develop & create the Department’s technology roadmap consistent with efficiencies & goals established by Enterprise
  • Implement the Department’s new e-billing system and develop other processes to manage law firm and other external service provider spend in a timely, efficient & cost-effective manner
  • Manage, directly and indirectly, implementation of other projects identified in the Department’s strategic plan, including its new contract management system

Finances & Budget

  • Oversee financial management for the Department including planning, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, profitability analysis, financialreporting, general ledger accounting, billing and otherfinancial management functions
  • Develop and identify trend analysis and other data points across departments to assist in management of budget for the Department
  • Provide relevant and timely analysis of budgets, financial trends, financial KPIs and forecasts to Department Leadership
  • Instill and enforce effective financialinternal controls through business structures and policies with an eye towards operational & cost efficiencies
  • Drive annual budget process
  • Take lead on identifying controls & other metrics to create efficiencies & cost reductions i.e., ACC memberships

Other Activities

  • Assist the Chief Legal Officer in planning and conducting all Department Town Halls and Senior Leadership Meetings and in developing the Department’s Communications Plan
  • Develop metrics for measuring the Department’s success against its strategic plan
  • Conduct regular benchmarking to drive efficiency and effectiveness across the Department
  • Participate in external groups and forums for Legal Department Operations to ensure the Department is keeping pace with industry best practices, maximizing its productivity and exceeding peers in its efficiency and effectiveness
  • Over time, become a “Legal Operations” thought leader

Financial Responsibility

  • This position is responsible for overseeing a combined budget of $80M - 100M

Basic and Preferred QualificationsEducation

  • BA degree or equivalent experience in a Finance or Accounting Major
  • 5 plus years of increasing responsibility in a Finance and/or Financial Reporting role; audit and other process efficiency experience a plus
  • MBA, CMA and/or CPApreferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, economic and accounting principles & practices
  • Proven success in Complex Problem Solving and Critical/Analytical Thinking, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to partner with and work effectively across functional areas and business units in a complex global organization to achieve the Department’s goals
  • Project management skills and attention to process are critical

Previous Experience

  • Minimum 5years’ experience in Financial Management roles

Travel Required: 15-20%
