The AVP will leverage data and technology to ensure enterprise-wide adherence to compliance standards. In addition, he/she will work closely with stakeholders throughout Compliance, Risk, Audit, Technology, Legal and the Business to evaluate and enhance current programs to develop more scalable, sustainable, and automated internal compliance capabilities and processes, playing a key role in managing compliance risk.
Key Responsibilities:
The AVP will be responsible for operationalizing compliance standards, processes, and responsibilities across the enterprise, including:
- Work with compliance and business leaders to define and implement a strategic enterprise-wide framework for governing all regulatory changes and inventory management, as well as MetLife Compliance policies and related documents
- Establish an inventory of all firm policies and related documents that is maintained centrally in a document management system
- Oversee the process of identifying, inventorying, and complying with existing, new and changed laws, regulations, rules, and regulatory guidance
- Develop and maintain regulatory change management IT solution
- Enhance global inventory tracking and management reporting
- Enhance global communications and governance of key regulatory changes
- Develop firm-wide standards for policies and procedures, defining accountability, governance, enforcement
- Work with policy content owners to harmonize and simplify all existing policies and related documents, enhancing and enforcing standards for policy content creation, format, and process
- Manage the timely recurring review and approval process for relevance and ongoing updates, track changes, and communicate updates to key stakeholders
- Develop and implement policy quality assurance practices
- Enhance the policy website and communications
- Provide oversight of the policy document revision and implementation processes
- Prepare materials and present updates to key committees
- Draft or assist in developing new or revised policy documents
- Work with Compliance, Legal and the business to harmonize global and regional processes
- Develop and deliver global, regional, and local compliance training on compliance risk
- Manage mandatory training curriculum
- Advise on training content for new and revised annual policies
- Ensure adherence to mandatory training requirements
- Serve as an influential member of the CEC organization, driving solutions across lines of defense
- Demonstrate key leadership behaviors:
- Influencing actions across MetLife business units by fostering global communication via interactions across lines of defense
- Interacting with senior line of business and Enterprise leaders to drive action addressing key compliance risks faced by MetLife.

Candidate Qualifications:
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in related business (insurance/financial services) in compliance, legal, audit or related role
- Be highly organized with strong written and verbal communication skills, maturity and presence to interact with members of MetLife’s senior leadership
- Proactive, commercial and solutions oriented, intellectually curious, operates with a sense of urgency
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate across lines of business and organizations to influence actions
- Extensive industry experience, with strong compliance background
- Ability to identify risks and apply strategies to minimize them
- Ability to manage complex projects to a successful outcome
- Ability to navigate complex and competing goals and interests to achieve results
