Job Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer you will work as part of a small, collaborative product team to design, develop, test and integrate safety critical embedded software for Avionics applications.

You will be responsible for the development, verification and certification of the software components that allow our customers to implement safety-critical Avionics systems. You will be engaged during all phases of the product lifecycle and will have the ability to influence hardware compatibility and hardware design decisions as well as the responsibility to design, develop, debug, test and document software systems and products

  • Collaborate with engineering team to design and develop software frameworks and system APIs targeted to our modular, open-architecture hardware platforms
  • Consult with engineering staff to define interfaces between hardware and software and implement hardware drivers for internal processing platforms
  • Optimize system performance to meet demanding customer requirements
  • Modernize existing software systems for technology updates in processing hardware
  • Develop and verify software running under Green Hills, Pike and DDCI RTOS
  • Capture software high and low level requirements
  • Work with customers to reproduce and resolve customer issues
  • Support design team in bring-up and test of hardware products
  • Develop and maintain software verification cases and procedures to verify software requirements and collect structural coverage
  • Communicate project status and risks to project and program manager
  • Consult on technical proposals and software system design
  • Support software certification activates leading to software compliance with DO-178C
  • Communicate software certification status to Certification authorities or their Designated Representatives

Minimum/Basic Job Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Science , Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Proficient in embedded software development with C/C++ in the safety-critical Avionics domain
  • Working knowledge of software development processes compliant with DO-178B/C standard
  • Experienced in performing high and low level software verification using COTS software verification tools (e.g. LDRA, Verocel tools)
  • Desired knowledge of RTOS: Wind River 653, Green Hills INTEGRITY-178, PikeOS and DEOS
  • Desired knowledge of standard protocols as TCP/IP, SPI, ARINC-429, ARINC-818, MIL1553 and CAN
