Identification, analysis and triage of system level obstacles to optimize power

  • Customer interaction to advertise the capabilities of the chipset, and to understand and address specific power requirements Qualcomms Automotive team is looking for an Automotive Power Engineer who is passionate in solving power challenges and develop innovative solutions for Infotainment systems, Autonomous Driving, Telematics (4G/5G, C-V2X). The engineer is expected to work with cross-functional engineering teams to model SOC/chipset power and come up with innovative solutions to optimize hardware and software to achieve power efficiency for greatest performance in power and thermal constraints. In this position, the engineer will be involved in all stages of the design and development cycles guiding the power-efficient design of the end-end solution. Responsibilities include:
  • Identification, analysis and triage of system level obstacles to optimize power
  • Chipset and system level power modeling, analysis and optimization for Modem and Application processor solutions.
  • Optimize power-efficiency and performance of present generation designs and help architect future products.
  • Guide multi-function groups through the design cycle in realizing the power targets set forth at the inception of the project
  • Architect power efficient systems
  • Design of power features and work with a wide set of teams across the company (systems, software, hardware, etc.) in the productization
  • Customer interaction to advertise the capabilities of the chipset, and to understand and address specific power requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the following areas is preferred.
  • Experience working with power and performance modeling tools at a detailed level. An interest in System power modeling and analysis is a must.
  • Software skills in Python, Excel/VBA and other programming languages/scripts to write software for modeling and automation in a detail level
  • Experience in Modem Communication systems design and/or Architecture, with experience in 3G/4G/5G power analysis and optimization Or
  • Experience with Application Processor architecture and common SoC hardware blocks (CPU, GPU, Memory, DSP, Audio, etc.) Or
  • Experience in design, development, and commercialization of System-level power features Or
  • Experience in software or firmware development related to power reduction features, thermal management, dynamic performance scaling, or limit management.
  • Solid foundation in computer architecture, with a good understanding of microprocessor architecture (core, cache, memory, bus, etc).
  • Familiarity with hardware architecture and blocks in power regulation techniques, power management, display, DDR memory, etc. and related protocols
  • Familiarity with use case modeling for power, performance, and thermal
